Weight didn’t truly start coming off until I realized how much a poor diet was truly hindering my results in the gym. Currently working on adding more muscle on a clean diet. Feel free to follow me through my fitness journey.
The Cheyenne River Family Fun & Fit Challenge Begins Today
President Barack Obama has proclaimed September National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, and the Cheyenne River Youth Project is doing its part to commemorate the occasion with its own creative stand against youth obesity on north central South Dakota’s 2.8 million acre Cheyenne River reservation. The 25 year old, not for profit youth organization is launching its first-ever “Family Fun & Fit Challenge” beginning today.
I am thinking I need to train for a 5k run. Something to give me a goal, but not something that is totally crazy and out of range for my level of fitness currently.
I’m 23 years old, 5’10 and this is what I did this summer.
The first picture was taken at the beginning of June at 250 lbs and the furthest on the right was taken at the beginning of September at 210(so from left to right 250, 240, 230, 220 and 210).
I needed a change and I’m sticking with it and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. This is a commitment to getting healthy not just weight loss and I feel so much better. I work at a plus sized clothing store and I’m now the smallest employee. I’ve gone from a size 18 to a size 12 so far this year so I don’t even fit any of the clothes anymore. I’ve got 40 more lbs to go until my goal of 170lbs.
I discovered a love for running with the help of the Couch to 5k program and I work out at the gym 4-5 times a week (mostly cardio) and finished my first ever 5k race this fall (33:16 not too bad for a first timer!) I count calories with MFP and eat pretty clean. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself!
